The fishermen

The Kilim Geoforest Park is situated in the northeast side of Langkawi, where there is a fishermen village. The huts of the village were built on the river with special technic of construction. Several barrels were put together that are floating on the surface of the water. The barrels are tightened to long timbers, which are used as the basement of a mini island to build on it the small hut. The huts are made of wooden board and steel-plates. The people of the village live on fishing and keeping some fish to show it for tourists. The small separated floating houses can be accessed from the river only, as they have no connection to the bank of the river. Even the simple buildings have no doors, windows or painting on the walls, the national flag of Malaysia had been put several years before. Even the surrounding of the village is a wonderful mangrove forest, the people living there have hard life there. The old man had just returning for his hut perhaps to prepare for the evening …

Horseshoe crab

In the fishermen’s village there is a floating island, which is larger than the others and several building is constructed on it. This is built for tourist to show the river creatures that are really strange in some case. Perhaps the most interesting one was the horseshoe crab, which seems like it was left from the ancient times before human beings. The sting like tails looks like dangerous but is used only for swimming and has no any function of attracting or defeating itself. The boarding of the floating island is constructed in a special way, because some square holes are kept and fishing net is laid on that swaging into the water. In each holes different kind of fish or crabs live, which are shown to people. Two guys take us around and suddenly one of him pick up a horseshoe crab from the water and offered to touch it.
