Artificial nature

The fantastic Marina Bay Gardens in Singapore just was finished in 2012. The most interesting part of the park is the place where the Supertrees were built. The Suportrees are artificial frameworks to hold flowers and plants and simulate the function of the real, natural trees. The Supertrees have photovoltaic cells to collect the sunshine and convert it to electronic energy to be used for the lighting of the Supertrees. Also, the Supertrees collect the rainforest, which is used for use in irrigation and fountain displays and the air intake and exhaust functions as part of the conservatories' cooling systems is also the part of the ecologic function of the Supertrees. The Supertrees are not stand alone constructions but implemented into a wonderful garden that is full of real trees, palms, plants and flowers. I was walking in the garden for hours and saw the Supertrees as incredible mixture of the metal framework, where its artificial structure was no intended to be hidden. The deep red sticks, the sematic structure of the tree-stratum is very artificial but the function of the trees is very natural. Actually more then nature as they are combined with the artificial function of the park. By the end of my trip in the Gardens I had found an interesting part of the garden from where the Supertrees and the vegetation merged into one image.
